Contractor and nursery Sewer Smart partnersThe "Be Sewer Smart" program was initiated by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the ABAG Pooled Liability Assurance Network Corp. in 2003. We've partnered with Bay Area cities and sanitary districts to educate the public about how they can prevent sewer backups and backflows.ABAG is working with professional plumbing associations to help homeowners find licensed, reliable and affordable plumbing contractors throughout the Bay Area. We've also partnered with the California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers to help homeowners find nurseries and garden centers where they can also get tree-planting advice to help them avoid sewer problems. Click on one of the links below to find a contractor in your area to help you evaluate your risk of backup by performing a simple and inexpensive Sewer Smart Home Inspection, install a backup and backflow prevention device, or get advice on Sewer Smart landscaping issues.
